2020 - June 17th - Wednesday

The events of last week were probably not a heart attack or stroke, but we will still mention it to my mom's Dr.  Its a busy week this week.  Mom wants to get a haircut tomorrow which is hard during the COVID-19 days of Phase 1.5, she has a Dentist appointment on Friday at 11:30am, a Dr appointment on Monday in Seattle about her arthritis and another Tuesday about her Kidney.  Wednesday is her Birthday at 90.  We are all meeting at the house for a social distance June Bash.  I have a lot of work to get done to be ready. Mom's memory is getting worse.  Its event based, but she doesn't not remember stuff from days or weeks or months earlier.  The funny thing is she will say "You didn't tell me" or "I never knew that" rather than I didn't remember.  I think because when a healthy person is reminded of something, they then recall the memory or pieces of it.  She doesn't recall it at all often.  For somethings she remembers great.  Party...

2020, June 10th - Wednesday - What are these signs?

Mom was better on Tuesday. Mom was worse today. She said she slept well, but was tired and everything was hard.  I kept close today, went to the store and to the Post Office in under 30 minutes.  I worked in the yard for several hours before dinner. At 5pm or so, mom complained of burps and reflux.  I gave her a tums.  After dinner she complained again.  Earlier in the day I took her O2 and BP, it was 95 and 82.  82 BPM is about 20 points high for mom.  Around 9pm she complained that her arm hurt.  After talking to Linda, I decided to consult with a nurse from Virginia mason over the phone. June. Mom was very tired, her pulse was high 82-85 bpm, the arm pain lasted about 30 minutes and she was more out of breath.  Now much of this can be explained by anxiety and mom had a panic attack on the 9th before bed.  Also, the arm pain might have just be a cramp as she thinks she is not drinking enough water.  She had a leg cramp on the 9th....

2020, June 8th - Monday - Got Less done and worried about her health

Woke today around 8am with mom already up at the TV dozing. She can't put her bathrobe on because of the arthritis in her shoulders, but she can work and get her slippers on.  So as usual I find her in her chair, slippers on and her bathrobe covering her like a blanket.  News is on.  I wake her, get her bathrobe on and ignore the smell of yeast she is fighting.  I get her water and coffee and half a banana. I decided last night we don't need to do the Ear, Nose and Throat appointment today with her fighting a bad fungus infection and frankly really depressed.  I called and cancelled. It was 10:30am when we were done with our morning and she was dressed.  We did our best to treat the yeast problem on her stomach, but it was sore all day.  I left for a while to get groceries.  I was going to do more, but didn't want to be away too much. Was kind of a nothing day.  I did get her to do a few laps of the kitchen for exercise.  I also added so...

2020, June 7th - Sunday - I see that weight is a bigger issue than I thought

We try and weigh mom every night before bed.  We really should do it when she wakes in the morning, but I have to be there to help her stand and balance on the scale and we can't have the scale out where she can trip on it and she can't bend down to retrieve a scale. So we do it at night, I bring the scale out, she stands on it and tries to balance as long as possible to get the weight to register.  Most nights she can do it.  Its the last thing we do before she sits on the bed and I lift her feet it and help her roll onto her side. She weighed 214.8 tonight.  Her top weight has been 215.6, so she is near the top.  She weighs 20 lbs more than last June 8th when she was released from the hospital with her first diagnosis of Heart Trouble.  That 20 lbs does not appear to be water weight, but fat.  Her pants and shirts and bra don't fit as well. Why?  Well we eat okay.  Maybe something from take-out once a week but the other six days a simple me...
